How To Release The Hidden Reservoir of Power Inside You

Starting today, I’m going to show you how to release a hidden reservoir of power that has always been inside you. This power can transform any area of your life and impact the lives of others as well. The catch? Most people aren’t even aware that it exists. So, let’s dive in.

I’m Harrison Wilder, a corporate strategist, entrepreneur, and your host. With an Executive MBA from George Washington University and experience managing two multi-million-dollar companies, I now advise top-level executives across various industries. My goal with this show is simple: to help you thrive as a leader in today’s ever-evolving business world.

If you’re serious about developing your executive skills, you’re in the right place.

Hustling Until It Breaks You: My Early Years

When I was younger, my hustle game was on point. I worked so hard, pushing my limits and mocking anyone who wasn’t putting in the same effort. I skipped sleep, meals, and relentlessly pushed my body beyond what it could handle.

But this mindset drove me into a health crisis. When I was 17, my lungs gave out. Over the next few years, I had surgery on both lungs to keep them inflated. That’s when I learned my physical body had limits.

But I didn’t want to settle or compromise on my dreams. I know you probably feel the same. What if you could achieve your dreams without running yourself into the ground? What if, despite your physical limits, you could still experience the life you’ve always wanted?

The Hustle Myth: Chasing Dreams Without Exhaustion

For years, I explored this idea. Society encourages us to hustle and grind, but many are exhausted, running in circles without getting closer to their dreams. Do you know what I’m talking about?

I’ve uncovered some powerful insights, and while these principles are simple to understand, they require letting go of beliefs that have held you back. It’s time to embrace an abundant mindset, one that you may have been conditioned to think is impossible.

Let me share a story about my friend Carl.

Meet Carl: A Life of Quiet Desperation

Carl is a success by most normal standards. He has a decent job, a nice home, and provides for his family. On the surface, everything looks good. But deep down, Carl is unhappy.

Carl learned long ago not to get too excited or upset—he manages his expectations to avoid disappointment. This means he doesn’t feel deeply passionate about much anymore. Every now and then, though, when life gets quiet, nagging thoughts surface: “Is this all my life is going to be? Working to live, living to work?”

Carl wonders what happened to his dreams and why he feels so emotionally drained. He asks himself, “Am I someone I want my kids to grow up to be?”

Carl’s Reality: Confined by Expectations

Carl isn’t alone. Many of us fall into a similar trap, the product of a system designed to produce people who do what they’re told. Carl works because he has to. Other than a few weeks of paid leave, he spends most of his days doing work he doesn’t enjoy.

He no longer entertains his deepest dreams because they feel out of reach. And he isn’t even sure it’s appropriate to pursue them.

Carl once tried to follow a dream, but it didn’t pan out. He made an internal vow never to make that mistake again.

Time to Meet Larry

Now, let me introduce you to another guy—Larry.

Meet Larry: A Life of Freedom and Fulfillment

Larry lives by a different set of rules. Unlike Carl, Larry listens to the desires in his heart. He gets excited about them, journals about them, and imagines what his life will be like when those desires are fulfilled. And guess what? Many times, Carl hears that Larry is off in some remote corner of the world, living out those dreams.

Larry’s life is designed intentionally and is full of flexibility and purpose. He and his wife pay close attention to their children’s desires and help them explore experiences that align with those passions. Larry’s life seems recklessly adventurous to Carl, yet somehow, Larry’s dreams always seem to find him.

The Two Competing Mindsets: Confined Carl vs. Unleashed Larry

By now, you’ve probably figured out that Carl and Larry aren’t real friends of mine. They are two competing worldviews that often coexist within us. Sometimes, you may feel like Carl—confined, cautious, and unsure about pursuing your true passions. At other times, you may yearn for the freedom and fulfillment of Unleashed Larry.

Over the next few episodes, I’ll help you develop Larry’s mindset and experience the life you’ve always desired—a life full of purpose, adventure, and fulfillment. But it will require letting go of the limiting beliefs that are keeping you confined like Carl.

The Success Challenge of the Week

I always like to leave you with a success challenge, and this week’s is simple: make a decision.

Which path will you take? Will you be Unleashed Larry, following your desires and creating a life of purpose and excitement? Or will you remain Confined Carl, stuck in the safe but unfulfilling routine?

If you choose Larry’s path, then continue with me in the next episode as we break down the beliefs that hold you back and unlock the path to living the life you were meant to lead. If you’re more like Carl, that’s okay too—but this journey might not be for you.

For those ready to live the unleashed life, post your questions in the comments. My team will pick the best ones for future episodes.

Until next time, have a great week, and I’ll see you in the next episode.
